Hi Sam,
ELSS fund returns are subject to Capital Gains Tax when redeemed. The Capital Gains Tax is 10% if you are a basic rate taxpayer and 20% if higher.

Hi Frenchie75,
HMRC cannot advise you on your residence as this is for you to determine based on the guidance available. If you are resident but non domiciled, you can opt to pay tax on the remittance basis - Remittance basis 2024 (HS264).

Hi bwearryyu,
If not UK resident, you will only declare UK income on the tax return. you will need to include the residence page of the return to show this and as resident in Hong Kong, no personal allowances are due.

RE: Rental income transfer to wife
Hi Paul,
Thank you for your question.
A capital gain will only be generated once the property has been sold. To declare your unequal share of beneficial interest i.e. 0/100 in the property/properties you must complete a Form 17, further information can be found in:
Trusts, Settlements and Estates Manual/TSEM9842.
Any queries regarding SDLT would need to be directed to them, their contact details can be found at:
Stamp Duty Land Tax.

RE: Zero VAT Rated Export Sales - Interior Design - Bespoke Goods
Hi QnnoA,
There are strict time limits for being able to zero rate rate goods for export.
Please see below:
3. Conditions and time limits for zero rating
The time by which you need to send the goods and obtain evidence for the removal of the goods starts at the time of supply date.
Please see section 2.11 of the guidance below:

The only extensions to these time limits are described below as per section 3.6:

RE: Invoicing from UK to customer in Ireland (Dublin) - VAT?
Hi Martin,
As the goods do not enter the UK at any point then the transactions would be Outside The Scope of UK VAT.
There are two transactions taking place whereby you are purchasing goods from France and selling goods to Southern Ireland.
The Place Of Supply of the purchase and supply of the goods will depend where the goods are at the point of purchase and sale.
There may be a requirement to register for VAT in the member state where your sale takes place and so you would need to contact the authority in that member state.
Thank you. -
