Have a same/similar problem. Running new 2025/6 Basic PAYE Tools I just get a big white square headed "Employer/Employee data - Actions required" Have uninstalled and re-installed a dozen times! Help

After updating Basic PAYE Tools, cannot run the software anymore. I uninstall and install again, still showed "Startup error" "The application encountered an error in the startup process. The logs may contain more details". Not only one facing this problem, don't you think that the last version of software have some error?

This morning I attempted to load up latest Rti and our virus checker said that there is a trojan virus in BPT RTI. I do not know that if you are aware that system has virus/bug.

Hello, I updated the Basic PAYE tools yesterday, but it cannot open. It shows that "The application encountered an error in the startup process. The logs may contain more details.". I am worry about that I cannot disclose my NI to HMRC through the software. I have already contacted the online services helpdesk, but it does not help. I would like to ask what should I do now? Is there any bugs for the software? Thank you!

The problem still exists! Again I have downloaded the newest version, tried to access it in various ways as per the suggestions, downloaded adobe switched to a newer computer, and yet ,there is still an error message popping up and I cannot access basic tools, it wont let me in. How can make my submissions? I am at a loss to know what to do! please, please advise HMRC! I have spent soooo many hours on this!

I used the other computer to download… Still showing "Startup error" "The application encountered an error in the startup process. The logs may contain more details". Would you please provide a solution, not only call us to have a phone call. That not helpful.

I have just updated the software to 25-26 year, and now when opening, get a nearly blank page with: /bptrti/datareview/ Employer/Employee - Actions Required and a white empty box. And nothing else. Can anyone help?

I have now managed to complete my end of year having found a workaround. I operated the software in Assisted Mode and it worked fine. This opens the software in a web browser and can be found via the start menu in Windows 10 (for me).

We can only advise that Version 25.1 of the Basic PAYE Tools was released on 4 April 2025. All users should download and install this version.

Hi,
I have downloaded the latest version of Basic PAYE tools today, but it still unable to open.
It still shows that "The application encountered an error in the startup process. The logs may contain more details."
I have checked my computer fulfill the hardware requirements.
I am worry about that I can't disclose my salary to HMRC through the software on time.
I have already contacted the Technical support with HMRC online services, but it does not help.
I would like to ask for the solution.
Is the software still have error as there are a lot of user facing the same problem?
Please provide the solution.
