Hi I live abroad and have received a letter stating I can pay voluntary NICs class 3 for my gap years. I want to pay from my UK bank to HMRC sort code 08 32 20 ac num 12001xxx. Want to confirm that my ref on the payment is NI number+IC+surname and initial? Thanks

Hi,
As you are paying voluntary National Insurance contributions from overseas, I can confirm that your 18 Digit Reference Number on your bank transfer is your National Insurance Number followed by IC then your surname and initial.
