If you complete a Self Assessment tax return then any tax refund due would be calculated when you submit your tax return. If you are not in Self Assessment then when HMRC receives your PAYE income your record will be reviewed and if overpaid a calculation will be issued to you.

If you are transferring the allowance and will earn above the personal allowance £12570 then as no benefit to the transfer you can contact HMRC to remove Income Tax: general enquiries.

As you've opted to receive correspondence by post, you would now normally receive any contact from us throught the mail. If you haven't already received your 23/24 notice to file, you should do so shortly. Re:Clarity on Tax Refund Process & Times
Hi NevanP,
As soon as your tax repayment was calculated, it would have been available to claim online, which you received notification of. If you then requested online to have your repayment refunded to your bank account, this can take up to 10 working days. If you have not received your repayment after 10 working days, contact us by webchat or phone via Self Assessment: general enquiries and we can give you an update.
