RE: EIS Loss relief
I'm not a tax advisor but I do my own EIS claims etc. I'm fairly sure you need to have claimed S/EIS relief to qualify for any loss relief, and that it needs to be done in the correct timeframe, i.e. in your situation you'd be unable to claim anything. You can't go "oops, I forgot to file and I'll do it now that the company has gone bust". So it's a definite No to your first question, and I'm pretty sure the second question's answer is that's not possible now, unless some of the investments were in this or last tax year. -
RE: Repayment Pending? It has been over 5 months
OP - I got nowhere via the suggested routes so I made a complaint. It took about 2-3 weeks for anything to happen, but they did end up contacting me and subsequently paying me. They haven't fixed the problem, so it'll happen again next year, but at least there's a route to getting paid that doesn't involve you being on the phone for the rest of your life. -
RE: Repayment Pending? It has been over 5 months
Raise an issue with the Adjudicator, if nothing happens then the Ombudsman, if nothing still happens, your MP. -
RE: How can I get my tax refund back? Nothing ever happens to my request online?
Same thing here, and the same problem every year. I've finally written a paper letter because nothing else works. No-one picks up the phone, no idea why they even have that chatbot because it doesn't help with anything. I've mentioned in the letter that if I'm not paid by the end of Sept I'll raise it with the Adjudicator. Have already made a complaint to HMRC but got ignored. -
RE: please help with tax refund problem
I have been trying for months, but no-one picks up the phone. Please stop sending the same message telling me I have to call. -
RE: please help with tax refund problem
I don't want to complain; I want the refund to be processed and the problem to be fixed! Will a complaint make that happen? -
RE: please help with tax refund problem
Please can someone respond? I'm not the only one with this problem, by looking at some of these threads -
please help with tax refund problem
I have tried in vain to contact by phone, with no joy. Every year for the last 3, I have done my self-assessment online, it had been validated within a couple of days, but when I ask for a repayment, nothing happens. 48 hours later, my account looks as though I never asked for the refund. So I try again, and the same thing happens. It's not "pending" or anything like that. I haven't been sent for extra security or whatever. It just says it's going to pay me, and then doesn't. My 2022 refund took 18 months, and 2023 took several months. I'm waiting 2 months already on the 2024 refund. I've tried having it sent to multiple bank accounts, and nothing works. Please can someone help in some way? Telling me I have to call isn't any help at all, because I've tried, and all I get is put on hold indefinitely. There is obviously something wrong with my account. How can I get my refund, and how the the account problem be fixed so I don't have to continue doing this every year? -
RE: Self Assessment tax refund
There is no problem requesting my repayment. The problem is the request goes through, and 48 hours later everything resets as if I never made the request, and no payment is made. This has been a problem for me for the last 3 years. -
RE: Self Assessment tax refund
Hi, same thing again. All I have to do is wait 2 days, and then the account is as if nothing happened before. PLEASE can you tell me what I need to do? There is no pending, there is no security check, there is just no payment happening, and there's no reason why.
