  • Survivor's pension and bereavement support plan

Dear team, Since one of my parents died and I have gone back to full time education, I receive a "survivor's" pension from my country of origin to help support my studies up until the age of 27. I raised the question over the HMRC chat, since I wanted to know if I would be taxed on it and the person scheduled a call with one of your colleagues. I was on the phone with a lady a couple of days ago and we discussed that it could be related to a bereavement support payment, although that is usually paid to the partner, meanwhile I am receiving it. I am struggling to understand if I will pay taxes next year because there seems to be not an adequate fit for that, although it is basically social provision I am receiving.
  • Capital income tax on foreign inheritance

Dear team, I have inherited money from a relative outside the UK and also a piece of land and a share of household that I then ended up selling to my living relatives. I sold the land for a lower price than its current value. Meanwhile, the house share was sold for the current market value for that property, as soon as I inherited the share. Do I own any capital income tax for both of these selling? If not, do I still have to declare it to HMRC? Thanks, Andrea.
  • NHS reimbursement for motoring costs and self assessment

Dear team, For my job I travel a lot to several temporary workplaces to meet with clients. The NHS already reimburses me motoring costs based on business mileage. Can I also apply for tax deduction on the self-assessment for actual expenses of vehicle insurance, repairs and servicing of the business use I do of my car? Moreover, this car was on a personal lease and when I began this job in September, then I paid the lease in full and the car is now mine. Can I deduct the cost of the car from my taxes? If yes, would that be the percentage I use my car for working in temporary locations? Thanks, Andrea.
