RE: Request for Certificate of Residence in the UK - Article of double taxation agreement
HMRC and others might be interested to know that foreign tax officials are not all aware that a Certificate of Residence will only be provided where the taxpayer has income arising in their country. In Cyprus certain tax officers futilely insisted on a certificate from HMRC although they were aware that the individual had no income in Cyprus! -
