  • Bring a cheque of £10,000 or over to the UK - Declaration required at the airport custom?

Hi, I am a UK resident and I paid for my cousin's university tuition fees and accommodation expenses a few months ago. My cousin's mum i.e. my aunt, is planning to repay me the money by offering me a £20,000 cheque which she will be bringing it over to the UK in person when she comes for Christmas next month. According to the government's website, declaration is required if "cheques (including travellers’ cheques) that are signed but not made out to a person or organisation". However, my aunt's cheque would have already been signed and made out to me (with my name printed on "payable to" line) when it's issued by the bank overseas. Please could you advise if my aunt would have to declare the £20k cheque which is made out to me at the airport upon arrival? Thank you very much!
