  • Merging Separate Government Gateway Accounts for VAT and PAYE

    Our accountants registered our company for VAT and set up a Government Gateway ID to file the first return on our behalf. Separately, we have been handling the PAYE submissions under a different Government Gateway account. We now would like to undertaken the VAT reporting ourselves, but when we try to add VAT to the Government Gateway ID associated with our PAYE account we get the error message: Your business is set up for VAT with another Government Gateway user ID. Try signing in again using a different user ID. How do we merge the two taxes under one Government Gateway account, as we can access both taxes but need to use separate login details for each?
