Hi, I started my business and joined Annual VAT scheme on 8th April this yr, and I quited the Annual Scheme in July and got a confirmation letter from HMRC in August, HMRC amended the VAT return date to 31 Oct 2024, 31Jan 2025, and 31 March 2025 in the letter, but when I log in to my HMRC online, the VAT return due date remain unchanged at 31 March 2025, which is the Annual return due date. I think I am supposed to submit my first VAT on 31 Oct, I tried to do so in Quickbooks, but it also shows due date is 31 March 2025, and the accounting period shows "08/04/2024 to 31/03/2025, which doesn`t match the amended date" 31/07/2024 to 31/10/2024 in the letter, so I didn`t submit. I`ve called the VAT hotline but they said it`s Quickbooks problem and I should called quickbooks to correct, obviously it`s not..... I`ve also sent a letter to BT VAT 2 weeks ago but I didn`t get a reply yet. as I understand I should submit within 1 month and 7 days after the "accoounting period", which I still have a few days to spare... should I submit it anyway? or wait for BT VAT response? Thanks! Davy

Hi.

Please contact the Annual Accounting team on 0300 322 7873 so that they can check your account and
see which VAT returns need to be submitted following you leaving the scheme.

If the returns have been correctly amended at HMRC but are still showing incorrect dates with Quickbooks
then this is something you would then need to speak to your software provider about.

Thank you .

Hi, Thanks a lot for the reply! When I check in HMRC online it's still showing "Annual", but I've received letter clearly said the return changed to quarterly successfully, is that normal? Thanks!

Hi,
Hello as previously advised to contact Annual Accounting to check what period dates are now open, as maybe an issue with your software.
Thank you.

Hi, I called the Annual Team via the phone number above yesterday, the officer fixed everything for me and now it shows the correct quarterly return days in my HMRC Online account, however it`s still shows the old return day in Quickbooks, I think I need to call them if it hasn`t update this week. Thanks a lot for your help, seems the part for HMRC is sorted, I will call quickbooks to fix the remaining problem. Kind Regards, Davy
