Im an Irish citizen through ancestry which gave me a Foreign births registry document that can be used in claiming an Irish passport. My passport application was refused as my South African passport i used as ID is out of date, i cannot get a new South African passport as i lost my SA citizenship when i became an Irish citizen. Was looking at getting a provisional drivers licence as a form of ID here in the UK but without a valid passport, the only other option is a UK birth certificate. Mine is Zimbabwean. Can i use my Foreign births registry document to prove im an Irish citizen? is there another way i can get a provisional licence? I was made redundant just over a year ago so i need a passport to get back into work, i have lived and worked in the UK for over 20 years and i have a NI card, P45 from last job and bank account. Can any of these be used to get a provisional licence or some other kind of UK ID document? Thanks.
