I am a member of Universities and Colleges Union. The union lets ask for funds (which are fairly minimal, on the order of £50 per day) to relieve some of the burden caused by the loss of pay incurred by going on strike. Are these payments taxable? Are they covered under the £1000 Trading Allowance? Thank you.

Hi,
Please have a look at the guidance at EIM06500 (EIM06500 - Employment income: strike pay from trade unions).
Thank you.
