Hi, I've started in a new job in Jan 2024 and had received a tax refund in my first payslip (for the amount overpaid due to a gap in employment), and I've checked that the total amount of tax paid for the year is now correct (after the refund). Do I need to report the amount refunded under the 'Tax refunded or set-off' section in Self Assessment? I did try include the amount but then I can see in my tax calculation that I'll be asked to pay the refunded amount in 2024/25 year which means I'll overpay. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
No, you do not need to declare this Refund in your Self Assessment Tax Return.
Thank you.
