Just had letter back from HMRC rejecting my claim for marriage allowance historical, saying I'd used an old version of the form and to use the new version from after Feb 24. However I definitely used the current version that's linked from the online pages (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65c3622c28a4a00012d2b9cf/MATCF_fillable_English_baselined.pdf) - but I note that this pdf has a "10/23" date at the lower right? Is this the incorrect form, or an incorrect date on the correct form? It has the 'new' required info about nominating agents, which I believe was what was added in Feb 24. Please advise which postal MATCF form I should be using.

Hi I had the same, and cannot find a newer form or get hold of anyone at HRMC, have you had any joy finding out more?

Not yet, I was hoping someone might post what they did to succeed with the form on here. I've sent the same form off again but this time with a small postit stuck over the "10/23" date just saying that this is definitely the latest version of the form and to check carefully. Maybe that'll work, if a human actually looks at it and it's not just automated somehow? Annoying though, likely to miss this end of tax year now despite having submitted the original several weeks ago in plenty of time, and it might mean the oldest back claim for historical allowance will be rejected as "too old" once we're in the new tax year. Most unfair.

Had exactly the same issue and letter received yesterday. Google says that website updated in Feb 2024 with new version. But where is it and how do we access it ? So frustrating ! If anyone has the magical answer, would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue, can see from the site that the form has been updated Feb 2024,but unable to locate a different form to the one I used.

Same thing happened to us, today (end of tax year) we received a letter from HRMC saying our (backdated) claim has been refused because 'old MATCF form was used'. However we used the form dated 10/23 provided by the HMRC marriage allowance webpages - no other, more current form is available. Either they have not updated the date on the form (and its automaticaly rejected) or they have forgotten to link the new form with their webpages. I was eventually able to get through to an HMRC advisor today on 0300 200 3300 and the advisor has now accepted our claim and processed it. She promised she will let her manager know that the MATCF form available via HMRC webpages still says 10/23.

Hi Barns,
Apologies for any confusion - please use the form titled 'Apply by post for Marriage Allowance', which you can find here Apply for Marriage Allowance by post(it displays 03/25 on the bottom right).
Thank you

My 83 year old Mother received a rejection letter on 5th April for her backdated application to transfer her tax allowance to my Father. How soon will we know if she is one of the 3000 impacted by the incorrect MATCF (version 10/23) on the HMRC website?

See that a new version of MATCF is FINALLY now available on GOV.UK website AFTER end of tax year. Very underhand by HMRC ! Have sent follow up to complaint asking if they will now accept a backdated claim to 20/21 even tho' this is after deadline of 5 April due to no access to acceptable version of form. Awaiting response.
