Hi I am looking on some guidance on the calculation of the net adjusted income. I am currently in full time employed with my taxable income being lower then the 100K limit hence I am receiving 15 hours of free childcare. Recently I have been offered the opportunity to provide some services as a sole trader/self-employed thus generating some additional income. If I take this opportunity the gross income from this self employment could take me above the 100K limit. So I have the following queries: 1) Do I only include the profits (gross minus allowable expenses) from this potential self employment for my net adjusted income calculation? 2) Given that there is no certainty of the amounf on income or profit from this endeavour I cannot be sure if I will exceed the threshold or not. So if I continue to apply and receive it what happens if at the end of the financial year when I do my self assessment I have exceeded this threshold?

Hi,
1) You only need to include the profits, as you describe, in calculating your adjusted net income - Personal Allowances: adjusted net income
2) To give you the best advice here, please contact our Child Benefit team by webchat or phone via Child Benefit: general enquiries
Thank you.
