Hi I usually pay my income tax via PAYE and it is taken out of my paycheck before i receive it. I have earnt around £5000 from savings interest in the 23-24 tax year. I was trying to figure out how I can tell hmrc about this to pay the relevant tax. I read that the banks would tell hmrc about my interest earned and that i will be given a tax bill based on that. However when i login to my account it says that my tax for the year 23-24 is still being calculated?

Hi,
Yes once HMRC receive the untaxed interest details from the banks and building societies we will review the tax year and issue a calculation if underpaid or overpaid in tax.
If you want to check the details have been received you can contact our Income Tax team below.
