Still waiting for clarification as to HMRC calculations for voluntary class 2 and 3 shortfalls

Hi, after a confusion over if I have to pay class 2 or 3 shortfalls back in August, (consulted here on the forum) I contacted HMRC with a letter confirming my periods of employment and asking them to revisit their calculations. I still haven't heard back from them. I have checked the reply time calculator but the reason for contacting HMRC is not on the list of options. My letter wasn't an application, rather a query so I have no idea of when I should expect to hear from. I've started paying the contributions but have no idea what I'm actually paying for. Any advice welcome, thank you!
