Sir/Madam, I have lived outside the UK for 29 years. I plan to return for retirement in 2034. I have confirmed with the Future Pension Centre that I will benefit from shortfall make-up payments to maximize my state pension. I have made multiple payments totaling almost 2500 GBP since 3-June 2024, no payments are shown on my online NI Record page. Apparently (after talking again to the Future Pensions Centre) my ONLY option is to call HMRC, talk to someone directly, and have my payments allocated to specific shortfall years. I have attempted dozens of times in recent weeks to call the +1-44-191-218-3600 number to get this done, I call, I go through the security questions, I go into a queue, I get hung up on after 20-45 minutes of waiting, every time. This is not working for me, Are there any other options for me?

Hi,
If you could call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 203 7010 (from overseas) then they will be able to check your National Insurance account and arrange for your payments to be allocated to the tax years that you wish.
You should have your payment details handy when you call.
The other option available to you would be to send us a letter to confirm how you would like your payment allocated.
Our postal address is:
HM Revenue & Customs,
PT Operations North East England,
BX9 1AN
United Kingdom
Thank you.
