Hi! Thanks in advance for all the help. I am inquiring about some rental income I had in the 2024-2025 tax year. I rent my one bedroom apartment for short-term rental while I'm on work trips, and earned approximately 5300 in the year. Since this remains my main residence (as I'm only renting it when I'm away on a trip), would this be tax-free under the rent-a-room scheme? I also rent, year-round, my driveway. I made approximately 1500 in the year. I used the HMRC checker as to whether I needed to submit a tax return, but the system told me I didn't. Can I clarify why this might be the case? Thanks!

Hi,
This does not fall under rent a room as you are not living in the house at the same time. you need to declare this along with the driveway rental income via a tax return.
Thank you.
