I am moving back to the UK from EU and my father has agreed to take some of our personal belongings on our behalf in his car via boat. Is my father able to do this? Would my written consent and proof that he is my father be enough?

Hi,
You can declare most personal goods by making a declaration by conduct or an oral declaration.
These methods of declaring your goods are simpler than other methods, but they are still defined as legal declarations.
Are you moving your permanent residence to UK?
Transfer of residence to the UK
You can get relief from customs charges due on personal belongings and other goods, when transferring your place of residence to:
•    Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales)
•    Northern Ireland from outside the EU
You can find more information on:
•    claiming Returned Goods Relief when you re-import goods that you previously exported from the UK
•    travelling to the UK
•    bringing goods into the UK for personal use
•    how to work out the value of imported goods
Thank you.
